A rare opportunity to purchase exquisite Orthodox icons from a private collection is offered by the Hellenic-American Cultural Center & Museum throughout the month of May.
Ken Shores, retired Lewis & Clark College professor of art, has collected these beautiful icons over the last 40 years, including travels to Russia. Most are icons from the 19th Century that are almost impossible to find now. They are icons written on wood, some for doors and others for walls of a church.
In addition, the May exhibit displays early works from the museum’s collection of paintings by Marguerite Frances Sylvia. The artist created an extraordinary body of work that captures the essence of village life on the Greek island of Lesbos.
