The Hellenic-American Cultural Center & Museum presents a lecture on the history and symbolism of vestments and various altar cloths used in the Orthodox Church. Bishops, priests, and deacons have long worn this distinguishing attire during church services as well as in everyday life. Altar cloths have their own significant meaning as well. Presvytera Krista West from St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church has done extensive research on the history and symbolism of Orthodox vestments and altar cloths and will share her expertise on Saturday, January 14th at 7pm. Location: St Dimitrios Hall of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Presvytera Krista West is a professional seamstress and has been making vestments since 1994, she also gives lectures on Orthodox Liturgical Vestments and has a Podcast, “The Opinionated Tailor”.
