New album from Cappella Romana

Local vocal ensemble Cappella Romana will be releasing a new album later this month. “Angelic Light: Music from Eastern Cathedrals” features both liturgical and para-liturgical works, seamlessly moving from ancient chant melodies to compositions by some of the world's most notable composers working in the Orthodox tradition today including Rev. Dr. Ivan Moody, Peter Michaelides and Tikey Zes.

“Angelic Light: Music from Eastern Cathedrals” is being released on March 27 on Valley Entertainment's prestigious Hearts of Space Records label. The music on "Angelic Light" was compiled by Ellen Holmes, the curator of the label's best-selling "Sacred Treasures" series. Valley Entertainment is distributed by Sony Music/RED and will make the CD available in the traditional exquisite packaging that Cappella Romana is so well known for, all over the world.

The label’s website is currently offering the album digitally (MP3 format) and taking pre-orders for the CD package. The album will be available in stores (Amazon.com, iTunes, etc.) on its release date.

Blessing of new land for St. George Antiochian Church

Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church celebrates the purchase of 2.7 acres of property adjoining their church.

Sunday, February 19, 2012, following Liturgy the clergy and parishioners of St. George walked next door to bless the new property. It is nothing short of miraculous that this property has come into the possession of the parish. There are many possibilities for the use of this land, but the parish has no immediate plans. There is a 1915 farm house on the property that is in poor repair, but not beyond the possibility of restoration. The property has many fine trees and will make a nice park for outdoor recreation in the period before development. In fact, there is enough room to allow for incorporating a park area into what ever development is done in the future.
